About Me
Who am I?
I'm a Christian first and foremost, a sinner saved by grace alone. I'm reminded of this every day as I struggle to be more like Jesus. I'm a son to my parents and a brother to my three older siblings. I presently work as a campus evangelist at the University of Tasmania, on the Hobart campus, for an organisation called AFES. I'm a musician by degree, with a major in classical composition. I obtained my degree at UTAS, which is where I heard the gospel of Jesus loud and clear for the first time. By God's grace, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour in September 2006.
Where am I from?
I'm from Hobart. I was raised in Bellerive, a suburb on the eastern shore of the Derwent River.
Hobart is the capital city of Tasmania, the southernmost state of Australia. We enjoy beautiful landscapes and we have a mountain overlooking our city. It's so close by that people live on the lower slopes of the mountain and cycle to work in the city every day. Tasmania gets quite cold by Australian standards, but also experiences some of the fiercest sun rays (although isn't all that hot). I love Tasmania for it's simplicity, but also for it's quietness.
What am I interested in?
Presently, I have a passion for food, specifically cooking (as distinct from eating). It's my favourite hobby. Hopefully you'll see some tasty photos and recipes up on this website as I refine what I do. I'm playing around with Korean food at the moment, but I'd like to think I've mastered my own style of pizza, as well as making curries from scratch, and having a number of baking skills under my belt. I also like computer stuff. This website is currently a hobby of mine, as I learn about web hosting and development, and so what you're reading sits on a computer that is running out of my bedroom and serving data to the world. I really enjoy playing english football, I also play futsal, and when I can manage the time, I really enjoy road cycling.
Coffee
Coffee is such a part of my personal culture it deserved it's own heading. Two of my good Christian friends work at my favourite Cafe in town, and it would be unusual for you not to see me there every Saturday morning at a bare minimum. I also really enjoy a quality cup of tea, preferably without milk or sugar. Some people like beer and whiskey, I like coffee and tea. Christians tend to bolster the coffee trade here in Hobart, because we have such a strong culture of nurturing relationships and meeting regularly with one another. Walk into Villino Espresso or Yellow Bernard at any given time and if the majority of patrons aren't hipsters, they'll be Christians. These aren't mutually exclusive groups either.
